HD Tourers space filler between bags and fender "How To

This is how I put the Street Glide rear fender fascia onto my Road Glide.

I got all the part numbers from the HD OEM parts book and ordered them on-line to save a few bucks.
I was able to get the fascia on my Road Glide with OUT removing my tourpack. I also did NOT use the stud plates #59818-06 and drilled no holes in the fender. Instead, with a tip from Rocket, I used 3M fender tape. After cleaning the tabs with alcohol thoroughly,I put a little strip on each of the 3 bolt tabs on either side of the fascia to hold the sides to the fender.

NOTE: If I were to do this again for someone, I would put the fascia up to the fender and mark the location of where those tabs would be on the fender. Then apply the 3M tape to the fender first. It will make removing the protective film a lot easier this way.

Then you put the fascia support piece onto the lowest saddlebag bracket bolt on the inside of the fender. I was able to get the 1/2 nut off the bolt without removing the HD bar/shield on the outside of the fender tip. Then I carefully bent the metal bar out of the way to slide the plastic support piece onto the bolt. Then bent the bar back over that bolt and put the nut back on loosely.

Then I removed the #40 torx screw at the bottom of the saddlebag bracket and loosened the allen screw and the 1/2inch bolt on the same bracket. This will give you enough play in the bracket to bend it out a bit and slip the fascia over the bottom of the bracket. Then I put the torx screw back in finger tight. I then went to the other side and repeated the process to get that side onto the bracket.

Then all I had to do is clean the fender with alcohol andpeel the 3M backing off the tape pieces with a tweezer. This is where it will help out others by putting the tape on the fender first. This way you can SEE the tape and backing to peel it off. My way I was trying to look behind the tabs with about a 1/4 inch gap to see.

With the fascia in it's final spot, and you are sure the fascia support bracket is on the tab of the fascia correct, press the sides of the fascia onto the fender.

Done, it took about 1 hour.

I'm willing to lend my bike

If you guys really want to use my bike and have some Babe sit all over it, go ahead. I enter shows and watch as the trailer queens come out and put up the ropes and chains and signs that say "Do NOT TOUCH!!" and laugh. Then when the kids and the girls walk around at all those bikes and get to mine and if they are interested I always ask, "Would you like to sit on my bike?" The kids eye's light up and say "Really?? You'll let me sit on it?"
I can't tell you how many "People's Choice" trophies I have because of this tactic. So, if you must have a picture of a pretty girl on my bike, I'll give the bike a good cleaning and let you have it
Mark McGrath is NOT Vanilla Ice

I had to fly to DC for some business on Monday and Tuesday. My plan was to arrive in DC on Sunday so I could check in to the hotel and get ready for the next couple of days. I booked an early flight to DC, but not so early that I couldn't sleep in a little.

I boarded my plane and was waiting for the take-off, when this guy comes in last minute. He had short black hair loads of tattoos and was wearing dark sunglasses. He looked a lot like Vanilla Ice. I had to do a double take.

I couldn't stand it anymore. When we got off the plane, I had to find out who this guy was. I didn't think he wanted to be called Vanilla Ice. I seem to remember he wanted to be called by his real name.

I walked up to him and asked, "So what's Mark McGrath doing flying coach?"

"Mark McGrath? I don't know. You'll have to ask him," the guy said.

"But isn't Mark McGrath that Vanilla Ice guy?"

"Vanilla Ice sounds more like it," he said. "But I don't know Mark McGrath."

"I'm sorry dude!" I said as I walked away in shame, not knowing if I just pissed off Vanilla Ice or Mark McGrath.

I immediately called a friend to ask him what Vanilla Ice's real name was. As I was on the phone, he came walking back up to me and asked if I had figured out who he was yet. I said that I hadn't and was really embarrassed.

"My real name is Rob Van Winkle. I am Vanilla Ice," he said.

No I really felt like an idiot. I was sure I must have pissed him off and was ready for a good tongue lashing. I ended my phone call and shook his hand, apologizing profusely.

He said that was ok and not to worry about it. He had just played the Riverfront Park in Nashville the night before and was on his way back home. He was pretty upbeat.

I asked how he was doing citing some recent news I had heard about him and his wife. he had been arrested in April on a domestic battery charge and was subsequently released and the charges were dropped. He pretty much repeated a statement that I found on his website. He explained his position with such sincerity, I couldn't help but believe him.

I asked him what kind of new stuff he had coming out. I wasn't really a fan of his earlier music. When he said that he was doing much harder stuff resembling Korn and Mudvayne, my interest was piqued. He encouraged me to check it out. I might like it.

I must say that I do like his new stuff. I also found him to be a nice guy, especially considering I just confused him with another artist. I wished him the best and offered to share a beer with him. He declined, saying that he was eager to get back home to his family.

Copied from blogs, read the original entry

Hehehe, all the time just not posted here a lot yet. But, to give you an idea, I owned a VTX 1800 and belong to the VTXOA.com message board under the same name. Over there I have over 30,000 posts. Helping out a lot on their Tech board when other riders have trouble or need help diagnosing problems.
